What is the Red Tractor logo?
Since 2010 the Red Tractor Scheme has replaced the Quality Standard Mark which was first introduced in 1999 to differentiate pork, bacon, sausages, gammon and ham from products not in the scheme. This means that the pork and pork products are produced to high standards of animal welfare, production methods and quality control systems. A major feature of the logo now and then is that it is subject to independent audit throughout the whole supply chain.
Understanding the logo?
While quality remains the primary concern of the Scheme, the logo also incorporates a national flag to indicate country of origin. British pork and pork products that meet the requirements of the Red Tractor scheme will display the Mark with the Union flag. The logo also allows suppliers of imported product that satisfy the high standards of the Scheme, to use the logo along with the appropriate national flag to indicate country of origin. The logo therefore gives customers the opportunity to choose to buy Red Tractor products from home or abroad.
What are the benefits of using the Red Tractor Logo for me as a butcher?
