There is considerable legislation to protect surface and ground waters, this impacts upon how land and farm businesses are managed and sets standards for the construction of facilities found on farm and the use of fertilisers, chemicals and manures. Advice programmes are available to farmers to help them understand the issues and implement solutions to prevent water pollution.
