Silage, Slurry & Agricultural Fuel Oil

If you operate a farm in England that does any of the following, you will need to abide by the The Water Resources (Control of Pollution) (Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil) Regulations 2010:

  • Makes or stores silage
  • Stores slurry
  • Stores more than 1,500 litres of fuel oil used for agricultural purposes
  • Has storage facilities that were constructed or substantially altered after 1991

The regulations are intended to minimise the risks of pollution from silage effluent, slurry and agricultural fuel oil by setting out standards that are required for the design and construction of storage facilities on farms in England and Wales.
