The British pig industry is suffering from a lack of investment in buildings, mostly in nursery and grower/finisher accommodation. Consequently pig performance on many pig units is deteriorating, and leading to an increased cost of production.
This document aims to outline the key issues surrounding the construction and management of a new pig finishing building as either a new enterprise or part of an existing one.
