Finishing
The finishing enterprise holds the greatest potential for generating the largest financial return from pig production and every effort must be taken to maximise that return. The finishing pig is the single biggest consumer of feed resource, accounting for more than 50% of the total pig feed volume and over 55% of the total pig feed budget.

2TS Finisher Challenge
The objective of the 2TS Finisher Challenge was been to help producers achieve the 2TS target by improving performance in the growing herd. The essence of the Challenge was to identify ‘lost’ potential in the herd and optimise these areas for improved productivity and performance.
Producers were judged on percentage improvement in FCR, ADG and mortality (in that order of priority) from wean-finish between two datasets submitted after 1 January 2012 and before 31 September 2012. Producers were not benchmarked against each other on KPIs, to avoid issues with non-comparable data sets.
