This report investigates the relative cost of pig production in selected EU and non-EU countries and has been prepared at a time of continuing low returns within the British pig industry. The report builds upon an initial study ‘Pig Cost Competitiveness in Selected European Countries’ published in February 1999 which examined pigmeat production costs in four selected European Countries, Denmark, Netherlands, France and Ireland.
