Time is running out to nominate somebody to receive this year’s prestigious David Black Award for service to the pig industry.
This is the 50th year of
the award which goes to someone who has made a significant and sustained
contribution to the British pig industry.
Past winner have included producers,
processors, academics, scientists and journalists, along with the Pig Health
Control Association.
The winner will be selected by a
panel of independent judges, chaired by BPEX director Mick Sloyan who said:
“This year is very special as it is the 50th and I know from personal
experience there are many deserving people in the
industry.
“But the difficulty is always
persuading them to step out of the shadows into the limelight to accept the
plaudits of their peers.
“They always believe there are
people out there who are more deserving but the truth is previous winners
received the accolade because of the contribution they had made and were
continuing to make.”
The award will be presented at an
industry lunch in London in the autumn.
Nominations
close on Friday, August 27 and to make a nomination, go to the BPEX website, www.bpex.org.uk, and click the link on the
