In August a workshop involving over 20 stakeholders in the pig meat industry was held to discuss how to enhance the manner in which the pig industry responds to adverse media coverage. As a result of the workshop it was agreed to develop some simple procedures that would assist key stakeholders respond efficiently, effectively and consistently.
The document drafted by the
group focuses on responding to adverse animal welfare stories but similar
variants for food scares, disease outbreaks and environmental incidents will
also be prepared shortly.
The procedures will be
reviewed continuously to ensure they remain relevant and it is hoped that the
industry will be aware of these procedures and where appropriate a more
co-ordinate single response will result.

these procedures, a must for everyone in the supply chain.
