In certain circumstances sows are moved into farrowing houses too soon before farrowing when space is tight. If the Cleaning and Disinfection routine is upheld between batches sows are moving into houses with high moisture levels.
On a recent visit to a unit this was raised and a
number of options were discussed, such as longer periods of resting between
batches or the use of space heaters to dry out the concrete – however by far and
away the most effective solution would be to use a Bedding Conditioner such as
Staldren or Natuclean these products can absorb
4-5 mls of water
per
10g product.
Consider
using one of these absorbent compounds to reduce moisture levels.
