BPEX Trainee of the Year Award
sponsored by Pfizer

This year's BPEX Trainee of the Year Award is Piotr Wroblewski, farrowing herd manager of a 1,500-sow outdoor unit and AI stud for John Green in Suffolk.
He was presented with his award — a trophy, a £1,000 training grant and a £500 cheque — by former farms minister Sir Jim Paice, at the Churchill War Rooms next to Downing Street.
Piotr Wroblewski receives his awards, training grant, certificate and trophy — from Sir James Paice, at a ceremony at the Churchill War Rooms, Westminster, London.
The BPEX Trainee of the Year Award, which is sponsored by Pfizer and Pig World, attracted a record entry of 13 nominees this year.
Judges Richard Longthorp (chairman), Gerry Brent and Kate Ashman, say Piotr Wroblewski demonstrates "a truly exceptional" degree of training undertaken.
And in addition he enthusiastically encourages other members of the unit's nine-strong team to do the same.
"He is a prime example of how the adoption of new techniques can be used to improve output — up by 1.5 pigs per sow per year in his case."
At interview he was able to demonstrate several ideas he had gleaned and applied following attendance at training sessions and from contacts with others at such gatherings.
"He clearly acts as a training evangelist by encouraging others who work with him to attend training as well," noted the judges.
